Thank you for submitting this idea. I think that your idea is a very good one, and shouldn't be impossible to implement. The biggest challenge we are likely to face here is cost.
As you may be aware, Dining Services recently upgraded to the CBORD GET access card management system. Currently, you can top up your Eph points and see recent transactions using the GET app for iOS and Android, or on the GET website. However, CBORD does sell a food ordering module which can be integrated into the GET app. With this system, you would open the GET app/website, and in addition to the option to add eph points to your card, there would be an option to place an order for food. Because dining services purchases all POS and student card management systems from CBORD, this module should be fairly easy to integrate into their current system.
While it seems like the CBORD GET online food ordering module would be a no-brainer for dining services, we should note that CBORD products tend to be quite expensive. As a very rough ballpark figure, I might expect CBORD to charge somewhere from $50,000-$100,000 to install the online ordering module for us. For that reason, making this upgrade may take a year or two as dining services will have to plan ahead to find room in their budget for this upgrade. Please note that Great Ideas Committee has not received a quote from CBORD and this estimate is only based on prices we have seen in the past for other CBORD products.
